Strife Begins at Forty

Theatre Group to Perform 'The Crucible' on 40th Anniversary

Theatre West Four over these years has established itself as one of the leading local drama groups and has many an award under its belt for its productions.

Amongst other celebrations to mark this special occasion, their 40 th Anniversary Production will be Arthur Miller’s ‘The Crucible’, at The Questors Studio Theatre, Mattock Lane, in Ealing on 12 th May to 15 th May.

It is a powerful play, based on true events, depicting the witch hunt trials in 17 th Century Salem,` Massachusetts, when a group of hysterical girls accuse many of its respected citizens of witch craft, bringing them before the court and thus condemning them to death by hanging for the crime of trafficking with the devil.

Three centuries on and the play is still deeply relevant to our life today. It is a savage attack on the evils of mindless persecution and the terrifying power of false accusation, giving a vivid warning against prejudice and of the dangers of religious fundamentalism which has particular resonances in our time.
