Heavy traffic expected in Southall - diversions in place
Superintendent
Laura Nicholson, Operations, Ealing Borough Police explained,
Local policing arrangements of approx 75 Police Officers will be in place
to help preserve the dignity of this religious procession. We will be
working with our partners to ensure that those people who are celebrating
can do so safely, whilst minimising the disruption to the rest of the
community. The additional police officers on duty in and around Southall
will ensure that this is a safe and peaceful time.
We anticipate 7,000 - 10,000 persons taking part in the procession and
appeal to members of the public not participating in the event to avoid
the area if at all possible, as congestion in the area will be high. If
you are planning to attend the area for the event we would encourage you
to use public transport to minimise congestion in the area.
