WHEN: Monday 13 June 7pm - 9pm

History buffs are in for a treat next week with the launch of Dennis Upton's new book, 'Ealing at War', a history of the Second World War as it affected our borough.
The book offers a unique record of the wartime history of the people of Ealing, Acton and Southall and has been published by Tempus Publishing in association with Ealing Council's Library and Information Service.
'Ealing at War' is an updated and expanded version of Dennis Upton's original book, 'The Dangerous Years', which was published twelve years ago. The original was very popular and a useful source of information for students but is now out of print. So, to coincide with the 60th anniversary of the end of the war, Dennis has written 'Ealing at War' as part of the Tempus Publishing series of local histories.
Drawing on first-hand accounts the book documents aspects of everyday life - from the destruction of homes and air-raid casualties, through the trial of rationing and evacuation, compulsory war work and salvage campaigns to victory celebrations. The book features more than 100 photos, many of which have come from Ealing's Local History Archive.
Dennis will introduce his work and people will have the chance to buy signed copies of his book at a special 15% discounted price. The Local History Centre's new display on what life was like in Ealing while under fire will also be unveiled.
Tickets are £4 each (£2 conc.), with refreshments included. As numbers are limited, we recommend that people book in advance by calling 020 8825 7321 or visiting the Local History Centre in Ealing Central Library (open Tuesday - Saturday).
