A new service was launched this week offering free advice and counselling to any resident of the London Borough of Ealing affected by adoption.

 

The Post-Adoption Centre, a registered charity which has been helping those involved in adoption since 1986, is beginning a monthly outreach surgery at St Andrew’s United Reformed Church, Park Road, Ealing.

 

Anyone who wishes to discuss adoption related issues is welcome, including:

 

• Birth mothers, fathers and other birth relatives who have given up children for adoption
• Adoptive parents who need advice and support with parenting
• Prospective adopters and parents who have experienced problems with adoption
• Adopted adults who wish to discuss tracing, reunion or other adoption issues
• Transracially adopted teenagers and adults
• Professionals working in the field of adoption

 Appointments must be made for the surgeries by calling the Post-Adoption Centre’s advice line on 0870 777 2197 between 10am and 1pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and between 5.30pm and 7.30pm on Thursdays.

 

Surgeries will be held on one Thursday each month between 10am and 5pm at St Andrew’s United Reformed Church. Appointments can be booked through the advice line and each appointment will last approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.

 

Surgeries will be hosted by fully qualified and experienced Post-Adoption Centre counsellors.
