The biggest community family festival fun day ever - proceeds to the Log Cabin
Bigger, better, and more fun than ever before! That’s the message from the organisers of Yellow Umbrella Day 2007, Chiswick Park’s annual community family festival day.
Chiswick Park will throw open its doors to the public, extending a warm invitation for families to join in with a range of events and activities based around the Park’s Events Plaza.
Mercury Artist, Lucie Silvas, will headline this year’s event, which will take place on Sunday 23rd September and Annie's Restaurant will be bringing its signature cocktail of rose petal fizz and its much-loved sticky toffee pudding.
As a headline sponsor of Yellow Umbrella Day, Annie's will be running a special 'posh puds' stall, serving delicious delights including chocolate brownies, cheesecakes, wine and champagne too, with yummy cupcakes for the kids. Annie's owner, Lorraine Angliss said, "We're delighted to be sponsoring such a wonderful event that will help local children's charities to raise thousands of pounds. We'll also be making a donation for every 'posh pud' that is sold, as well as offering one lucky couple the opportunity to win a 3-course dinner at Annie's in Chiswick as part of the Grand Prize Draw on the day. Come along and indulge in some fabulous food or luscious cocktails to support this very worthwhile cause!"
Now in its fifth year, the event gives the local community the unique opportunity to come together for a day of fun and entertainment, while raising money for worthwhile causes at the same time.
Yellow Umbrella Day is this year supporting three worthy children’s charities; Brainwave – giving therapy to children with special needs, The Log Cabin - an inclusive adventure playground and The Shooting Star Children’s Hospice – providing care for terminally ill children.
As part of the event there will also be a 10km fun run, and 5km walk both of which will start and finish at Chiswick Park. Participants are encouraged to enter one of the ‘races’ and raise sponsorship money for one of the three designated charities.
As well as Lucie Silvas, entertainment already confirmed for this year’s event includes:
• a live performance from a Commitments tribute band
• live performances from Chiswick artists Isodore & Clay and Haley Glennie-Smith
• a BBQ
• a cartoonist
• a bouncy castle
• street entertainers
• face painters
• crazy golf, and lots more surprises besides!
There will also be a Grand Prize Draw, with the chance to win amazing prizes including a Family Holiday to Disneyland Paris, a BMW Z3 or Mini Cooper (for the weekend), a 3 course dinner for two courtesy of Annie’s Restaurant in Chiswick.
Over 2,500 people attended last year’s event which was an outstanding success.
Fran Goddard the Yellow Umbrella Day event organiser at Chiswick Park said, “Yellow Umbrella Day gets bigger and better every year, all thanks to the tremendous support from the local community and Chiswick based sponsors, Annie’s Restaurant and HR Owen. We are delighted that the event has become a eagerly anticipated date in so many people’s calendar, and we promise that this year will be the best Yellow Umbrella Day yet!”
