Ealing Wind Orchestra accepts the applause after its Christmas performance

April 15, 2025

After a successful fundraising concert in the run up to last Christmas, the Ealing Wind Orchestra is planning another performance.

Once again teaming up with students from the London College of Music, it will be playing a range of music including from Malcolm Arnold, George Gershwin, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and more, at 7:30pm on Friday 9 May in the Weston Hall at the University of West London.

The musicians will be conducted by Dave Gordon-Shute and Felix McGonigal.

Tickets for the event cost £5 plus booking fee and can be bought online.

The adult ensemble for wind, brass and percussion plans to hold two concerts each year, one in spring and the other around Christmas.

The group meets on Wednesday during term time and it is always interested in welcoming local people who want to play. Musicians under 18 can join if they bring a responsible adult with them. It is particularly keen to encourage people from traditionally underrepresented groups to join and write music for the orchestra to perform.

One of the main organisers of the Ealing Wind Orchestra is Dave Gordon-Shute who is as a professional tuba player and teacher. He performs with the orchestra for Birmingham Royal Ballet and is a founder member of Onyx Brass.

University of West London Weston Hall is on St Mary’s Road (W5 5RF).
