Comedy at No5 Club

Madame Galina and Wilfredo - May 25th

Outrageously funny seventeen-stone ballerina Madame Galina brings her extraordinary dancing and acid tongue to the No5 Club at the Drayton Court in Ealing tonight. (May 25). She tops a special comedy cabaret double bill also featuring cult sensation Wilfredo.

Galina’s list of credits is includes a private performance for Her Majesty The Queen on board HMS Victory; the Olivier Award winning show C'est Barbican; two series on Channel 4; Ruby Wax Does The Business on the BBC as well as sell-out shows in Edinburgh and at nearly every major arts festival in Europe, not to mention a recent stint entertaining the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Iestyn Edwards first performed as Madame Galina at a private party and within a week was onstage in front of Madonna, Jude Law and Kate Moss. Chance sightings then led to a TV showcase and to The Big Breakfast covering his first Edinburgh festival.

On Trafalgar Day 2005, he was asked by First Sea Lord Admiral Sir Alan West to sing on the HMS Victory in the presence of Her Majesty The Queen. She seemed to enjoy the performance. When Sir Alan asked Madam Galina to cut short a rendition of Braham’s The Death Of Nelson, she gave him a stern rebuke:

“Don’t ever do that again, “ she said. “His singing was rather lovely”.

Reviews

“Outrageously, screamingly funny…had the audience near tears” The Times

“A truly marvellous creation” Barnstaple Fringe Festival

“A rare and perfect synthesis of art and larkiness…the audience howled with laughter, stamped and cheered.” The Times

WILFREDO

Wilfredo is a satire of the traditional Mediterranean romantic singer and has established himself as a cult figure on the British musical festival scene. Performing his own original masterpieces and the odd twisted cover version, he smashed the Edinburgh Fringe in 2011, winning the hearts of audiences and critics.

With several recordings for BBC Radio 4 Extra under his belt, a feature length fly-on-the-wall documentary film in production, and a series of festival dates and live appearances to come, 2012 looks to be the year of Wilfredo. Catch him while you can.

Reviews

“With the look of a tramp, the libido of a goat, and the voice of a romantic, we love him” Time Out

“Incredibly funny. Wilfredo is utterly grotesque but lovable at the same time.” Broadway Baby

“I couldn’t help but feel happier for it. Go see this show and take everyone you know with you. Five stars.” Three Weeks
