Bringing Festive Serenity To Ealing

Free shiatsu sessions at Ealing Green

An Ealing woman is hoping to de-stress shoppers in the build-up to the festive season.

Pascale Chaillet will be holding 30 minute ‘Approach Christmas with Serenity’ Shiatsu taster’ sessions at Ealing Green on Saturday November 19, between 2pm and 5.45pm.

She said: “Stress can be caused by an overactive life and when our expectation to achieve exceed our capacity to deliver but it is also about how we cope with our emotions when we can’t meet these expectations.

“Consequences of high level stress can be physical stiffness and tension, mental exhaustion and emotional suppression. Shiatsu helps to increase body awareness and anchors the mind into the body, so we feel more present and grounded, more able to understand our environment, and so more assertive in dealing with life’s difficulties.

“By indulging yourself with a 30-minute Shiatsu Taster you will feel relaxed with a refreshed and energised body, and you will have a more serene mind so you can approach the festive season more peacefully.”

Pascale added that she discovered the benefits of the oriental therapy Shiatsu in 2011 when she was in a very stressful job as a business consultant.

“I was transformed from being highly tense to very relaxed, so I decided to find out more about Shiatsu and did a basic taster course at the British School of Shiatsu.

“I was so impressed that I went on to do the three-year practitioner course while still working as a business consultant, then started working as a Shiatsu therapist during weekends, and then went full-time in January 2016.”

Shiatsu originated in Japan, and is one of the oldest complementary therapies. It is ‘hands on’ yet not intrusive, and is performed through clothing. Practitioners release tension and stress by using gentle pressure on acupuncture points, joint mobilisation, and gentle stretches.

Pascale, who is based at the Ealing Green Practice, mainly treats people with stress-related conditions such as depression, anxiety, insomnia and irritable bowel syndrome, and has also developed a workshop for managing stress by using traditional Chinese medicine principles.

She said: “In a very stressful life you are very much living in your head, and often taking pills to carry on.”

“Shiatsu helps to reconnect mind and body.  It can release physical, emotional and mental blockages that manifest in ways such as muscular skeletal imbalances, digestive or respiratory issues and stress-related illnesses.”

Pascale has also developed an interest in working with people affected by neurological disorders such as Dementia, and from time to time holds a workshop for families and carers where they can learn gentle touch techniques to comfort their loved ones.
