New Housing Development Threat to Refugees

Proposals for residential development in Queens Walk

MORE than 40 refugees could be left homeless if a new housing development goes ahead in Ealing.

Servite Houses wants to convert the Omid Housing Association building in Queens Walk into 18 flats and six separate houses.

The application was refused last month because of the impact of the development on neighbouring residents including the Capitanio Nuns at Nile Lodge, the lack of parking and the loss of the hostel.

Servite -which owns the Omid property - say they always intended to redevelop the site and claim that an inspection of the property in 2007 found it was no longer fit for the purpose.

They have now submitted a new application to Ealing Council and say it has addressed the main planning concerns.
