Tony Rawlins presents 'Mad Men and the Artists' 21st January
The Arts Society Ealing presents the first lecture in its 2019 calendar on Monday January 21st at 8 pm in the Dr William Barry Lecture Theatre, University of West London, St. Mary's Road, Ealing, W5 5RF.

The lecture will be given by Tony Rawlins on the subject ‘Mad Men and the Artists: how the advertising industry has exploited fine art’. Fine art has provided advertisers and their agencies with a great deal of material to use in their campaigns and in this amusing, entertaining and informative lecture, a wide range of images and videos are used to show examples of the original works the creative process and the (not always entirely successful!) advertisements that are the end result.
Tony Rawlins started his career in advertising as a mail boy in J. Walter Thompson. He set up his own agency in 1985, primarily to handle Guinness campaigns in Africa and the Caribbean, where he produced many campaigns and commercials over a period of 15 years. He remains active in the industry but now concentrates on more philanthropic projects, particularly working with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He has been a lecturer for the Arts Society for many years.
Visitors are welcome to attend lectures on payment of £8 per lecture. This fee is reduced to £3 for students and members of other affiliated Arts Societies. Drinks are available.
