Corrie Russell jailed for 13 years for unprovoked attack
A 24-year-old man has been jailed after being found guilty of an unprovoked attack in Southall which left his victim unable to walk unaided nine months later.
Corrie Russell, of no fixed abode was sentenced to 13 years’ imprisonment after being found guilty of wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm following a trial at Isleworth Crown Court. He was also handed a sentence of three years for possessing an offensive weapon, to be served concurrently.

The court heard that police were called at around 3pm on 3 April 2018 after a man, aged in his twenties, was chased along Merrick Road in Southall, by an unknown man who stabbed him multiple times in his upper body and both legs.
The victim was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital in a critical condition.
Officers from the Met’s West Area Command Unit began an investigation and DNA from a metal railing at the scene - which the suspect was seen to have jumped over following the attack - was linked to Russell.
CCTV from the area also showed Russell leaving Southall Railway Station in the moments leading up to the attack before pursuing his victim.
Despite extensive searches, the knife used by Russell was never located.
The victim suffered serious damage to both legs and remained in hospital for around eight weeks. He still requires assistance in walking independently.
Detective Constable Nish Ubbi, who led the investigation, said, “This was a brutal and unprovoked attack in which Russell intended to cause serious and long-lasting harm to his victim.
“We are pleased he is now off the streets and we hope this sentence acts as a deterrent to anyone else engaged in this type of criminal behaviour.”
