Eighty people evacuated from their homes in Wood End Lane

The scene at Wood End Lane Northolt
Police have cordoned off an address in Wood End Lane and armed officers are on the scene after reports there were ‘hazardous items’ inside.
At this stage police believe there is one man inside the address. Whilst it is not known what the man has inside the property, police are treating seriously reports that the items could be dangerous and that attempts have been made by the man to prevent access to the address.
They have sealed off an area in a 200m radius around the property. Due to concerns for safety of the man at the address and the responding officers, police have not attempted to gain access. Trained negotiators are at the scene to talk to the occupant.
For safety reasons approximately 80 people have been temporarily re-housed from the immediate area of the address.
There is no suggestion that this incident is terrorist related, nor is it linked to any other ongoing investigation or operation.
The police have thanked those local residents directly affected for their cooperation and patience. Local officers are on duty around the area of Wood End Lane to talk to the local community and address any concerns that they may have.
Cllr Julian Bell, leader of Ealing Council, said: "We are working closely with our colleagues in the police as they continue to deal with the ongoing incident in Northolt. I've been kept appraised by the police throughout the incident and we have offered help to those residents who have had to leave their homes. The safety of our residents is our top priority and council officers will continue to be on hand to give any necessary assistance until the incident has been resolved."
