Great Western Railway (GWR) and TfL Rail services were suspended this Tuesday evening (28 May) after what has been described as a ‘trespass’ on the line between Hanwell and West Ealing.

A substantial number of emergency services vehicles attended the scene near Hanwell Viaduct including police, Fire Brigade, ambulance service and a National Police Air Service helicopter.

The incident is believed to have taken place at around 4.10pm. GWR say that rail services have now resumed having been blocked between Paddington and Slough but there were substantial delays during the evening rush hour leaving passengers stranded at Paddington station.

A spokesperson for TfL said, "Police are on site and our investigating this matter.

"Apologies for the delays caused to your journey this afternoon. Trains are currently be held whilst we wait for the police to provide an update."

British Transport Police have been asked for comment.
