Programme includes two world premieres and tunes from Les Miserables
November 28, 2024 The Ealing Wind Orchestra, which was formed last year, is to hold another concert along with the London College of Music. The programme includes Holst First suite for Military Band, John Williams Hymn to the Fallen Sousa Liberty Bell March, Colin Skinner McRae's Battalion, Fauré Pavane, a selection from Les Misérables and two world premieres. London College of Music student composers Sunghoon Lee and Katrine Aziz will be performing their pieces for the first time. It is taking place on Friday 13 December at 7:30pm at the Weston Hall, University of West London on St. Mary’s Road (W5 5RF). Tickets cost £5 and can be purchased online. The group meets on Wednesday during term time and it is always interested in welcoming local people who want to play. Musicians under 18 can join if they bring a responsible adult with them. It is particularly keen to encourage people from traditionally underrepresented groups to join and write music for the orchestra to perform. One of the main organisers of the Ealing Wind Orchestra is Dave Gordon-Shute who is as a professional tuba player and teacher. He performs with the orchestra for Birmingham Royal Ballet and is a founder member of Onyx Brass. If you are interested in joining contact ealingwindorchestra@gmail.com.
