Residents and visitors are being invited to an exhibition and a week of events being held in Walpole Park to uncover the history, secrets and plans for the future of the park. The feedback from the exhibition will be used in the development of the proposals for the Heritage Lottery Fund Parks for People bid.

The exhibition and series of events begins on Saturday, 23 October with an experts question time, followed by a week of free activities for people of all ages including family storytelling and felt making workshops and an opportunity to join park rangers on an early evening bat walk to learn about the park’s nocturnal furry and flying visitors.

Saturday, 23 October 2-5pm
Expert Question Time - Neil Davidson, Landscape Architect and Sarah Couch, Historic Landscape Consultant, will be on hand to answer your questions about the history of and proposals for Walpole Park.

Wednesday, 27 October 2-3.30pm
Family Storytelling Workshop – listen to stories of the feasts and parties that Sir John Soane held at Pitzhanger Manor and what is now Walpole Park, and then work with our storyteller to write your own.

Thursday, 28 October 6-7pm
Bat Walk – learn about Walpole Park’s nocturnal furry, cute and flying visitors and join our ranger in looking for them.

Friday, 29 October between 11-2pm and 3.30-5pm
Willow Sheep - drop by to help environmental artist, Sandie Sutton, to make willow sheep.

Friday, 29 October 2-3.30pm
Family Felt Making Workshop – work with environmental artist, Sandie Sutton, to explore how to transform wool into felt.

Sunday, 31 October 11-12.30am

Councillor Kamaljit Dhindsa, cabinet member for Customer and Community Service, said: “Walpole Park has so much history and the week of activities during half term will give residents a chance to get involved and learn more about the park. We are also giving every visitor and resident the chance to give us their feedback on our proposals about the future of the park.”
