Events taking place this Sunday in Ealing, Southall and Greenford
November 6, 2025 Residents are being invited to join traditional Remembrance services across the borough on Remembrance Sunday, 9 November, to commemorate the sacrifice of the armed forces, past and present. Three principal services will take place in Southall, Greenford and Ealing, each following the customary two‑minute silence at 11am. The largest service will be held in Ealing, where the mayor, Councillor Anthony Kelly, will attend a parade and ceremony at the Ealing War Memorial on Ealing Green, in front of Pitzhanger Manor. The King’s representative, Deputy Lieutenant Richard Kornicki, and council leader Peter Mason will also be present for the ceremony and the moment of silence. In Greenford, the local branch of the Royal British Legion will march from its headquarters in Oldfield Lane South to the Greenford War Memorial for a public service at 11am. In Southall, people will gather at 10.45am at the Southall War Memorial on The Green for a service that includes the two‑minute silence at 11am; attendees will then be invited to St John’s Church in Church Avenue for a short ceremony and refreshments. Ealing Council has reiterated its commitment to supporting veterans and those transitioning from the armed forces through its Armed Forces Covenant, which offers guidance on housing, employment, welfare, education and healthcare. The council has been recognised with the Armed Forces Covenant Gold award for its work supporting veterans. Council leader Peter Mason wrote in his Leader’s Notes: “Remembrance Sunday reminds us of the values that bind us together: duty, service, and solidarity. It is about more than wreaths and ceremonies; it is about ensuring that the lessons of history are never forgotten. It is also about the real people that served and their stories: almost every family in the borough will have relatives that served in the world wars.” More information on times and locations is available from local parish notices.
