Local Authors Showcase will provide chance to pitch their book
February 24, 2025 An invitation is being issued to local writers to participate in this year’s Ealing Book Festival. The event, which is to be held at Pitzhanger Manor between 24-27 April, is currently recruiting published writers with a strong connection to the Borough for its Local Authors Showcase. This lively and entertaining evening offers up to 20 local authors the chance to pitch their book in a strict two-minute slot to an audience of engaged and committed book-lovers and to have it on sale afterwards. Interested writers with recently-published work should contact localauthors@ealingbookfestival.com for an application form as soon as possible. Entries close on Monday 17 March. The Ealing Book Festival was inaugurated in April 2024 to celebrate Ealing's rich literary heritage and to provide a platform for both renowned and emerging authors. The festival aims to foster a love for reading and writing within the community, offering events that unite people, inspire writers of all ages, and promote local talent. The inaugural festival, held at Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery from 11-14 April, featured a diverse lineup of literary figures. Notable participants included Booker Prize winner Eleanor Catton, journalist and author Sathnam Sanghera, and former children's laureate Dame Jacqueline Wilson. The event attracted over 1,300 attendees, surpassing organisers' expectations. A highlight of the festival was the Local Authors Showcase, which took place on 12 April. This event provided a platform for 18 local writers across various genres to present their work in a dynamic, two-minute pitch format. The showcase aimed to promote local talent and connect authors with the community, offering attendees the opportunity to discover and support Ealing's literary voices.
