At Pitshanger's Party in the Park
Labour MP Steve Pound got hit in the face with wet sponges at this years huge community event in Pitshanger. Dozens of people lined up to pelt their parliamentary representative on the 'Pound Pound for a Pound' stall- for charity. More than five thousand residents from Pitshanger and the surrounding areas were treated to a day full of fun and entertainment at at the hugely popular Party. Thanks to fantastic weather, visitor numbers were up this year and organisers, the Pitshanger Community Association (PCA) say extra funds have been raised for local causes and this year’s charity, Meadow House Hospice. A PCA cheque for £3,000 was also presented to Helen Ryan for the hospice at the event from money raised from previous events. Sponsored by estate agents Northfields, the event was opened by Steve Pound and Ealing Mayor, Councillor Barbara Yerolemou. Huge crowds were drawn to the main stage and bar where they enjoyed live music and dance while others savoured the culinary treats on offer at the Gastrodome. Shoppers were tempted by a huge array of goods at the Craft Village while kids were kept entertained by Peter’s Puppets, The Beaufort Players and a host of fun and games laid on by Fit for For Sport. Thanks to the generosity of the traders in Pitshanger Lane, kids were also able to enjoy unlimited rides on a beautiful vintage carousel and a train ride for just £1. Entrants in the dog show competed for the much coveted titles of ‘Best Dressed’ and ‘Waggiest Tail’ while the sausage race descended into predictably hilarious chaos. There were also sports and football competitions, a barbeque and the chance to meet local police, fire and ambulance crews.
