Picnic with your neighbours this Sunday
Ealing Council wants residents to enjoy Sunday lunch together as part of a nationwide event. The Big Lunch will be happening in houses and parks across the country. It's designed to get people more involved with their neighbours and to encourage community spirit. The Leisure and Parks team is hosting a picnic in Walpole Park, Mattock Lane on Sunday, 19 July. The event will run from 12-3pm behind Pitzhanger Manor House in the park. It's free to attend and people are encouraged to bring their own picnic and refreshments. Visitors can also visit Spencer's Café, which is in the park. Council Leader, Councillor Jason Stacey, said: "It's important to stop and give yourself a break every now and then so this is a good excuse to take a breather from your usual chores and enjoy lunch in the park. "We will also be encouraging people to have their say about ideas for improving the park and manor house to attract more people to enjoy events like this one." There will be a host of children's activities to enjoy and the Manor House will be open during The Big Lunch for people to take a walk around. There will be picnic tables to sit at and gazebos in case of rain. For further information email parks@ealing.gov.uk July 13, 2009 |
