Ealing Choral Society’s summer concert on the Saturday 8th June will be a wonderful evening of music with an operatic theme.

First on the bill is the Petite Messe Solennelle by Rossini, who in his time was the idol of Italian opera. The work has a number of fabulous chorus show-pieces and several glorious solos for tenor, soprano and bass – it is certainly neither little nor solemn!

This will be followed by a selection of favourite arias and choruses from well-known operas, namely Delibes’ Lakmé, Bizet’s Carmen and The Pearl Fishers, Puccini’s La Bohème and Madame Butterfly, Verdi’s Il Trovatore, Nabucco and La Traviata. Something for everyone to enjoy!

The choir will be joined by professional soloists (Soprano Sarah Leonard, Mezzo Jennifer Westwood, Tenor Paul Austin Kelly and Bass Michael Pearce) and musicians (Charles Economou on piano and Julian McNamara on harmonium), under the inspirational baton of Dr Jonathan Williams.

The concert starts at 7.45pm at St Barnabas Church, Pitshanger Lane, W5. Tickets £16, £13 (concessions), £3 (16 years and under), including interval drink and programme, on 020 8894 5998 or on the door.
