25 stalls will open to mark the occasion this Saturday
September 24, 2026 Ealing Farmers Market will mark its 25th anniversary this weekend with a day of celebrations, free cake, competitions . The weekly market, which takes place every Saturday from 9am to 1pm on The Avenue in West Ealing, will celebrate its silver jubilee on Saturday 26 September. Organisers have planned a series of special events, including a "Guess the Weight" competition, a free anniversary cake and customer surveys aimed at shaping the market's future. The market will open as usual at 9am, with visitors able to take part in the produce-weight guessing competition until 11am. At 10am, customers and friends of the market will be invited to enjoy a specially created birthday cake and buns. The winner of the competition will receive a hamper filled with fresh produce from market traders. To mark the occasion, 25 stalls will attend the market, representing one for each year of its existence. Among those taking part are long-standing traders including Boarstal Meats, Chalkstream Trout, Stevens of Sibsey, Bloom Bakery, Wild Country Organics, Busy Bees Honey, Pie Emporium and Lincolnshire Poacher Cheese. The market is run in partnership between Ealing Council and London Farmers Markets and was established to bring fresh food directly from producers to local residents while helping attract visitors to the area and foster a sense of community. Mark Handley, director of London Farmers Markets, said: “It's great to have built this market up from nothing and we really need to thank all the local customers for their loyal support and most importantly the farmers and food producers who have stuck with the market through good times and bad. Bring on the next 25 years!” London Farmers Markets was founded in 1999 when its first market opened in Islington with 16 farm businesses. The organisation now operates 20 weekly markets across London and works with around 200 farmers and food producers. The organisation says farmers' markets helped introduce many foods and products to London consumers, including heritage vegetable varieties, artisan sourdough bread, rare-breed meats, seasonal flowers and locally produced honey, while maintaining direct connections between shoppers and producers. Residents attending Saturday's anniversary event will also be able to take part in the market's annual customer survey, giving feedback intended to help shape its next chapter.
