Ealing Choral Society to Perform Goodall's Eternal Light: A Requiem |
||||
Programme also includes Ralph Vaughan Williams' Five Mystical Songs
October 23, 2024 The Ealing Choral Society is to perform Howard Goodall's Eternal Light: A Requiem along with the London Mozart Players with Peter Asprey conducting. The programme also includes Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Five Mystical Songs and other choral favourites by Edward Bairstow and Charles Villiers Stanford. Traditionally a prayer for the salvation of the departed soul, Howard Goodall’s requiem centres on those who are left behind to grieve. It celebrates the healing power of music to create a sense of solace whilst acknowledging the unbearable loss and emptiness that accompanies the death of a loved one. Like Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem, Goodall’s Eternal Light is a requiem for the living, with poetry and hymns alongside the more familiar text of the Mass, to focus on interrupted lives. The performance takes place on Saturday 16 November 7:30 pm at St Barnabas Church, Pitshanger Lane, Ealing, W5 1QG. Programme: Howard Goodall: Eternal Light: A Requiem Conductor: Peter Asprey Tickets and more information may be found on the society’s website.
