Downstairs at the Drayton presents a very special night of comedy on June 11, with not one but THREE top headliners, including a Mystery Guest from a top BBC TV show.

Two brilliantly original comics in Carey Marx and Stephen Carlin preview the shows they are taking to Edinburgh in August, with the 'mystery' act popping up for a special appearance in between. The comic's identity is being kept secret until the night, but we understand it is a regular from Mock The Week.

CAREY MARX has been a circuit favourite for years mixing his own special blend of dark humour with a mischevious and gleeful delivery, which has earned him countless TV credits and regular compering spots at Reading, Leeds and Glastonbury Festivals.

Marx has performed all over the world and last year won the award for Best International Show at the New Zealand Comedy Festival.

THE PRESS ON CAREY MARX

“He knows how to charm an audience. He is filthy, he is naughty and he is very funny.” Craccum

“Extraordinarily talented stand-up who reaches into the genre's darkest corners with a tickling stick, delivering his black thoughts with a cheeky smile, he makes the world a better place.” Metro

“Utterly brilliant” The Skinny

“This is a show about the power and beauty of language, as much as anything, though it just happens to be illustrated with some corking yet hardcore gags, too.” Chortle

“Hilariously demented” Edinburgh Evening News

“Unbelievably Funny.” The Scotsman

STEPHEN CARLIN has earned critical acclaim and a growing fan base with his original writing style and off-the-wall delivery. Named by Stewart Lee as one of the “Ten Best Comedians in the World Ever”.

Carlin supported Lee on his nationwide tour in 2005 and also performed at Tedstock alongside Lee, Richard Herring, Simon Amstell and Phil Jupitus in 2007.

THE PRESS ON STEPHEN CARLIN

“Deadpan Scot with the brooding looks of a young Sean Connery and a nice line in snooker based humour.”Evening Standard

“If this man isn’t a household name in five years time, the world is even more lacking in justice than we could have feared.” The Scotsman.

“Fast establishing himself as one of the most distinct and funny new comedians in Britain.” Chortle

“The Sean Lock of his generation.” BBC Comedy Development.
