Youngsters in Ealing are being encouraged to get creative this half term and enter the Picture in the Park competition to win an all access behind the scenes pass to the animal centre.

Children aged five to 15 are being asked to take a photo or draw a picture of one of the park’s animals and send it into the animal centre team to win a behind the scenes tour of the animal centre and experience a day in the life of an animal keeper. The competition closes on Friday, 5 November. The top ten winning entries will appear around the park and on its website.

Councillor Kamaljit Dhindsa, cabinet member for Customer and Community Service, said: “The animal centre has many wonderful animals and birds for visitors to enjoy. With a community garden, maze and children’s play area the park offers something for children of all ages and makes a great day our for all the family – and best of all it’s free.”

There have also been improvements to the animal centre including new enclosures for the common marmosets as well as the introduction of several new species of birds including blue bellied rollers, a southern helmeted currassow and little egrets.

Entries can be emailed to brentlodgeparkanimalcentre@ealing.gov.uk or sent by post to Rowan Schnauer, Leisure and Park Services, Brent River Park Help a London Park Project, 14-16 Uxbridge Road, Ealing W5 2HL. Entries must include the child’s name, age and contact details and the name of the animal in the picture. Entries submitted will not be returned. Emailed and scanned images will be accepted.
