Young players can learn rugby skills with the professionals August 5, 2026 Ealing Broadway is bringing top quality rugby talent to the heart of the town centre this summer, thanks to a new partnership with Ealing Trailfinders. Families can take part in free weekly rugby sessions led by professional players, offering children a chance to build confidence, learn new skills and stay active over the school holidays. Running every Friday outside Tesco Express until 21 August, the sessions take place from 12pm to 2.45pm and form part of Sportropolis, Ealing Broadway’s wider summer programme designed to give families fun, affordable ways to get moving together. Children of all ages and abilities are welcome, with coaching delivered by players from both the men’s and women’s Trailfinders squads. Among the pros taking part are Flo Long, Matt Cornish and Max Nagy, who will guide young participants through techniques, drills and games aimed at developing coordination and boosting self-belief. Families will also have the chance to meet Bella the Bear, the club’s popular mascot, with photo opportunities throughout the afternoon. Flo Long said she was delighted to be involved: “It’s so important that we encourage children to get involved in sports and make sure they have accessible routes into activities like rugby. That’s why I’m so pleased to be involved in this initiative, helping to bring the local community together and making sure kids stay active over the summer holidays.” Andrew Rollings, centre director at Ealing Broadway, highlighted the value of the partnership: “There’s so much to enjoy at Ealing Broadway this summer, including our rugby sessions in partnership with Ealing Trailfinders. We’re passionate about our role as a welcoming hub for the community and are proud to offer families affordable ways to stay active and enjoy the holidays together.” The rugby workshops are just one part of a packed summer schedule. Other free activities include the Saturday Sports Club, featuring football freestyle demonstrations, tennis-inspired games, martial arts tasters and rhythm-and-movement sessions. Visitors can also try their hand at Sub Soccer Tables or relax at the Sportropolis Beach, a community space complete with a giant sandpit, sandcastle-building equipment and a branded deckchair for family photos. All activities are free and open to all ages. More information is available at: www.ealingbroadwayshopping.co.uk/news/free-summer-activities-ealing-broadway
