Ealing Weightlifting Club is celebrating a string of excellent performances by its young members at the recent English Age Championships.

Three gold medals were bagged including two from Dua Khan and Sabin Khan improving on a second place finish last year.

In addition, Asees Dhanda (Seesy) set a new national record in her weight class and earned her spot at the World Youth Championship in Peru this May.

She has been coached by former Olympian Kazem Panjavi who says he is excited about accompanying her to what he sess will be a significant moment in her weightlifting journey.

He adds, “These achievements are a result of hard work, perseverance, and, most importantly, the incredible support we’ve received from our athletes’ parents.”

Ealing Weightlifting Club is based next to the athletics track in Perivale and was founded by Kazem Panjavi in 2011. Since then it has coached over 25 British champions, more than 50 national medalists and broken over 200 national youth records with two of its members making it to the Olympics.

The club has planning permission for an extension to its existing facility but due to the short term lease it has, been unable to gain capital funding to move the project forward.

With the assistance of James Murray MP, the club believes it may have identified £60,00 available as a grant from HS2 although no official agreement has yet been made.

In the meantime, Kazem Panjavi has been supporting the club himself despite being out of work for nearly a year.
