The Piccadilly line between Acton and Uxbridge was suspended for several hours this evening after the severe weather caused a tree branch to be blown onto the track.

Transport For London (TfL) say it happened close to North Ealing station. Trains were stopped from 6.37pm until 21.55pm while the line was cleared and safety checks conducted.

Ealing has been battered by heavy wind and rain throughout the day.

Weather forecasters issued a gale warning tonight with winds reaching up to 70mph in some parts of the country.
