Rugby team supporting vision research charity Fight for Sight
September 16, 2025 Members of the Trailfinders Women rugby team have lent their support to a local initiative by Fight For Sight, a charity focused on funding research into vision loss. The campaign, known as the Ealing Fashion Drop, is taking place at the charity’s shop on Ealing Broadway and aims to sell eight tonnes of new clothing donated by an online retailer. The donation, consisting of new garments still bearing original tags, was made available to the Ealing branch of Fight For Sight with the goal of preventing the items from going to landfill. The charity has set a four-week target to sell the stock, with proceeds going toward its research programmes. To help raise awareness of the campaign, several Trailfinders Women players visited the shop and took part in a photo shoot around Ealing Broadway, wearing selected items chosen with the help of sustainable stylist Sarah Sole from Sourced Studio. Fight For Sight operates 14 charity shops across London and supports both scientific and social research into sight loss. The Ealing Fashion Drop is part of its broader efforts to engage the public and generate funding through retail activity. Phil Beavan, Director of Retail at Fight for Sight said, “It was such a joy to have the players come down to Fight for Sight, Ealing. Their positivity and support brought a fantastic atmosphere to the shop and shows that these aren’t just professional sports people, they’re big-hearted members of our community. And of course, they all looked fabulous in the pieces they picked out for our shoot around Ealing Broadway!” Trailfinders Women fly-half Isla Norman-Bell added, “The community always shows up for us, and it’s important for us as a club to back the people and causes around us. “Helping Fight for Sight raise awareness is a small way we can contribute to work that matters, and being involved is something that feels meaningful to us.” The campaign runs until Sunday 21 September at the Fight For Sight shop located at 2 The Broadway, W5 2NH.
