Six-storey Development Planned at West Ealing Kwik Fit Site |
|
Mixed used scheme at junction with Coldershaw Road includes nine flats An application (223779FUL ) has been submitted to Ealing Council to demolish the buildings occupied by Kwik Fit in West Ealing and construct a six-storey building. The site at 131-137 Broadway would be the location for nine new flats as well as commercial premises, probably shops or a café, on the ground floor. A cycle store and refuse facilities would be accessed at the rear through Coldershaw Road. The designs have been drawn up by WAA, an architectural firm commission by a company which is part of the Luxgrove Homes group. The architects see the site as forming a gateway to the town centre area and will seek to retain the adjacent trees to the site. The flats would include two duplex units on the top two floors suitable for larger families with the units on the lower floors being one or two bedroom.
Luxgrove Homes is involved in number of projects in the area. It purchased a portfolio of commercial properties on the Broadway (99 to 103, and 105 to 113) from Catalyst Housing Group last year. It is also developing the Living Hope Church site by Junction Road and Carlyle Road which was the subject of some controversy after the building collapsed prior to planning permission being obtained for its demolition.
There are a number of other developments either at the early stages of design or with submitted planning applications in the area including at two storey increase in the height of the building at 143-145 Broadway and other six-storey buildings at 134-136 Broadway (Alan Power Architects) and 130-132 Broadway (Modulor Studio). Comments on the application can be added using this link.
