A new attempt is being made to develop a significant stretch of Pitshanger Lane at Kenmure Mansions.

Classville Ltd is currently preparing a planning application and aims to submit it Ealing Council in July.

A previous application for the site at 111-153 Pitshanger Lane was rejected by the borough planning committee but new designs have been submitted which the developer says address residents' concerns about the previous plan. The 2019 scheme proposed a two storey upwards extension to the existing building with 44 flats whereas the new scheme is smaller in scale with only a single storey extension building into the existing roof space of the properties. This would only be visible from the rear of the property and would deliver 21 new flats as well as all the public realm improvements previously proposed.

An earlier proposal for Pitshanger Lane was for 60 flats in a building that would reach 8 storeys high but that attracted a significant amount of local opposition with over 1,400 objections.

The developer Classville Ltd says no extensions are planned to the front elevation along Pitshanger Lane and the height of the building will remain the same along this road. To the front of the building, the only visible change will be the introduction of the velux style rooflights for new loft spaces.

To the rear of the building a new mansard style roof is proposed that will add a roof extension to the building. The new extension to the rear of the building would not be visible from Pitshanger Lane.

Classville Ltd says that they will minimise disruption to shops on Pitshanger Lane with specially designed scaffolding with the aim of ensuring shop fronts remain visible and accessible.

Of the 21 new housing units there will be a mix of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom flats.

An exhibition of the plans is due to take place between 1pm and 6pm on Sunday 16 July at St Barnabas Church Hall.
