Northfields Library will temporarily close for two and a half weeks at the end of this month to allow building work to take place.

The library, on Northfield Avenue, will close at 5pm on Saturday 27 August and normal opening hours will resume from 9am on Tuesday 13 September.

The temporary closure will allow work to be carried out at the back of the building to integrate it with the redeveloped Log Cabin children's centre. The improvements will give groups of library users access to meeting rooms in the adjoining children's centre and is also expected to increase use of the library.

There are several other libraries nearby which residents can use to borrow books during the closure:
West Ealing Library, Melbourne Avenue, W13 9BT
Hanwell Library, Cherington Road, Hanwell, W7 3HL
Ealing Central Library, first floor of the Ealing Broadway Centre, W5 5JY

Library users can still return borrowed books to Northfields Library using the book return slot and those books will be collected daily. Alternatively books borrowed can be returned to any other library in the borough.

Residents are also being reminded that they can view the library catalogue, reserve or renew books online at www.ealing.gov.uk/libraries . Many ebooks and audio books can also be borrowed for free from the council's elibrary.
