A man from Ealing has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was shot in Abingdon, Oxfordshire on Tuesday night (3/11).

The victim, has been identified as 26-year-old Kerry Reeves from Abingdon, died in hospital yesterday morning.

At around 8.20pm on Tuesday the emergency services were called to a report of a suspected shooting of a woman in Thornhill Walk off Northcourt Road.

The victim sustained serious head injuries and was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford where she was treated for her injuries.

Officers investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident have been carrying out searches and forensic examinations at a number of locations in and around Abingdon.

A 20-year-old man from Northolt, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder last night in connection with this incident and is currently in police custody. He has now been re-arrested on suspicion of murder.

Investigating officer, Det Ch Insp Mike Lynch of Major Crime, said: “Our thoughts are with Kerry’s family at this very difficult time.

“Our investigation appears to indicate that this was not a random attack and the offenders knew Kerry. We are still actively searching for a further suspect. We would urge anyone with any information about this incident and who has not already contacted the police to call us on 101.”
