77 'affordable' flats are being built on Felix Road
Ground is about to be broken on the next phase of the redevelopment of the Green Man Lane area. 77 flats are to be built on Felix Road by construction firm Real on behalf of A2 Dominion. The units will be available at London Affordable Rent which means that tenants will have to pay rent based on benchmarks set by the Mayor which could work out at about £700 a month for a two-bedroom property plus service charges. In addition to the housing, a new community centre is being built to compliment the primary school and community café already delivered as part of the overall project. The new homes will be situated in two apartment buildings with a landscaped courtyard to the rear. The enabling works are due to begin shortly, with the construction of the new homes starting later in the year. The new homes will access the existing site wide energy scheme for Green Man Lane that has already been delivered in an earlier phase of the development. There will also be PV panels on each building’s roof, providing electricity in line with the developments overall sustainability aims. Paul Nicholls, Chief Executive of Real, said: “It’s great to see another phase of Green Man Lane progressing, especially one that’s providing much needed affordable housing in the Ealing area, and we’re very happy that it will be Real building these homes. “It’s been a year since Real launched with the intention of supporting housing providers to be able to house and grow thriving communities, so already being able to work on another phase of Green Man Lane is again making our vision a reality.” Danny Lynch, Director of Special Projects at A2Dominion added: “Our aim is to provide much needed affordable homes, a sense of community and a vibrant hub for existing and new residents to enjoy. This scheme will bring together innovative energy efficient building technologies that enable people
to live a more sustainable lifestyle.”
