Try the sport this May with special discount sessions
April 21, 2026 Ealing Croquet Club is opening its gates to newcomers this spring, offering two Introduction to Croquet days designed to give local residents a relaxed and enjoyable first taste of the sport. The sessions take place on Saturday 2 May and Saturday 16 May at the club’s beautifully restored Edwardian pavilion in Lammas Park, with a special £2 discount available for readers of EalingToday.co.uk. The club, which took on the lease for the historic pavilion and surrounding lawns in 2024, has spent the past two years restoring and repairing the building to secure its future as a community asset. Run entirely by volunteers, the club relies on local support to keep the facility thriving, and the upcoming taster sessions are part of its effort to welcome new players and introduce more people to the game. Visitors will be guided by qualified coaches who will demonstrate the basics and organise friendly, informal games suitable for complete beginners. No experience is required, all equipment is provided, and the sessions are open to anyone aged 18 or over. The aim is to offer a fun, sociable introduction to a sport that combines strategy, skill and fresh air in one of Ealing’s most attractive green spaces. The club is encouraging early booking, as places are limited and the discounted rate is expected to be popular. Tickets cost £6 per person—reduced from the usual £8—when using the code CROQUET2 at checkout. The sessions will take place at The Pavilion, Lammas Park, Culmington Road, Ealing W5 5JH. Organisers say they hope the events will inspire more people to discover the charm of croquet and support the club’s ongoing work to preserve the pavilion for future generations. They are inviting residents to come along, meet the volunteers, and enjoy a welcoming introduction to a sport with deep roots in the local community. Ealing Croquet Club is a registered charity and runs all its activities on a not-for-profit basis.
