Gurnell Leisure Centre in Ealing will open as a temporary Government site for Covid-19 testing.

The temporary unit in the car park is open on an appointment-only basis to people who have booked online in advance. 

*Ealing Council was advised overnight that pedestrian access for testing will also be available today and tomorrow (3 and 4 May).  Appointments must be made online *

It will be staffed by members of the Army located next to the leisure centre in Ruislip Road East, Ealing W13 0AL.  

It will be there on Sunday, 3 May and Monday, 4 May.  The option to book a slot at Gurnell Leisure Centre will be available on the government's website later today (Saturday, 2 May).

Social distancing rules will be followed at the test centre.  

Key workers, members of their families and over-65s, can be tested for COVID-19 at one the government testing centres.

Appointments must be made via the government website - https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-getting-tested

* People eligible for testing include:

* All essential workers including NHS and social care workers with or without symptoms

* Anyone over 65 with symptoms

* Anyone with symptoms whose work cannot be done from home (for example, construction workers, shop workers, emergency plumbers and delivery drivers)

* Anyone who has symptoms of coronavirus and lives with any of those identified above.

Appointment times will be available when choosing a time slot using the booking portal.

Ealing Council leader Julian Bell said: "The council is proud to support the Army and partners in our NHS to help them carry out this vital testing in Ealing. 

"It is critical our key workers get these tests so they can continue to provide the essential care many of our most vulnerable residents rely on.

"If you are over 65 or are one of the key workers listed on the government website and are showing symptoms of COVID-19 then please go and fill in the self-referral form, book your appointment and get tested."
