Engineers have now fixed the phone problem at Ealing council.

The fault was external to the council’s telephone system and was caused by one of the components on the main telephone network between the council offices and the exchange.

Engineers at the telephone exchange worked with the council’s own technical team to fix the problem overnight.

The council put its contingency plans into action to ensure emergency calls were still answered and keep disruption to a minimum.

Messages were also posted on the council’s website to let customers and residents know what was happening.
