Two School Uniform Swaps Aim to Support Families and Reduce Waste |
|
Taking place at West Ealing and Perivale Libraries October 16, 2025 Two community-led school uniform swap events are scheduled to take place in Ealing this October, offering families the opportunity to pick up free school uniform items and donate outgrown clothing. Organised with support from ActForEaling, Ealing Council, and local libraries, the events are part of the wider Ealing School Uniform Swap initiative. The first event will be held on Saturday, 18 October, from 10 am to 12 noon at West Ealing Community Library, located on Melbourne Avenue, W13 9BT. The second will take place on Tuesday, 21 October, from 2 pm to 5 pm at Perivale Hive & Library, Horsenden Lane South, UB6 7NT. At both venues, attendees can take home up to four school uniform items per child free of charge. Items available include shirts, skirts, trousers, tops, jumpers, and sportswear such as shorts and tracksuit bottoms. Branded and unbranded uniforms for Ealing primary and secondary schools will be available. Families are encouraged to donate clean, good-condition school uniforms they no longer need, although bringing items is not a requirement to participate. The aim is to ensure equitable access while maintaining sufficient stock for all attendees. The West Ealing Library event will take place on the ground floor, which includes an accessible toilet and a hearing loop system. Both events are designed to support local families, reduce textile waste, and simplify the process of passing on usable school clothing. Donations have been collected at designated drop-off points since August and will continue through October. Organisers have expressed appreciation for the community’s generosity, noting that many families have already benefited from the initiative. For more information, including drop-off locations and future swap dates, visit the Ealing School Uniform Swap website. Additional advice on extending the life of school uniforms is available via the Ealing Repairs article linked through the same platform.
