A major initiative is being planned to plant 5,000 trees in one of Ealing borough’s new park.

During March regular weekly planting days are to be held in Pear Tree Park, the former Perivale Park Golf Course.

Letting Grow CIO & Ealing Council have organised the plantings from 3-29 March. From Monday to Wednesdays, the Letting Grow Team will undertake intensive planting, on Thursdays local school children will get involved and on Friday teams from local companies and council partners will take part with community planting day on Saturdays in which local groups and councillors will get involved in the reforesting effort.

The effort will culminate with an End of Planting Party on Saturday 29 March with refreshments, workshops and guest speakers.

Pear Tree Park was officially opened in July 2024. The park spans approximately 49 acres, equivalent to about 30 football pitches, and was developed on the site of the former 9-hole golf course adjacent to Perivale Park. It is one of the ten new parks the council has pledged to create as part of its broader plan for a regional park.

The park currently features a mix of wildflower meadows, native trees, and planned wetlands, which support pollinators such as bees and butterflies, as well as a range of bird species.
