Residents near Horsenden Lane South warned to stay indoors
April 9, 2026 A major fire broke out at a derelict building on Horsenden Lane South in Perivale on Wednesday evening (8 April) , prompting a large emergency response and warnings for residents to stay indoors due to heavy smoke. Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters were called to the scene after the London Fire Brigade received the first of 15 emergency calls at 5.58pm. When crews arrived, the roof and first floor of a row of derelict terraced flats were already alight. No injuries have been reported. Station Commander Justin Randtoul, who attended the incident, said firefighters worked quickly to contain the blaze but expected to remain on site throughout the evening. “The fire was generating significant smoke, and we strongly advised local residents and businesses to keep windows and doors closed,” he said. “Please continue to avoid the area wherever possible, as road closures are in place and are causing congestion.” Crews from Wembley, Chiswick, Ealing and surrounding stations brought the fire under control by 7.46pm, though damping-down operations continued into the night. The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
