A 38-year-old man from Ealing will be tried at the Old Bailey over allegations that he made posts supportive of Hamas on social media.

Muhammad Jweid of Castlebar Park appear at the court for a preliminary hearing last week. He was told that his trial is scheduled to begin on 2 December and last for 10 days. Prior to that a plea and trial preparation hearing will take place on 19 September.

He was charged last month with two counts of expressing an opinion or belief in support of a proscribed organisation.

Posts he made on social media were drawn to the attention of the Met’s Counter Terrorism Internet Referral Unit in late October 2023 by a member of the public.

After an investigation by detectives in the Counter Terrorism Command Mr Jweid was arrested on 17 November last year.
