Spencer caused damage to buildings but regularly left churches empty handed
A 42 year old homeless man has been sentenced to 15 months in prison after being found guilty of burgling a number of local churches in June and July of 2009. The court heard how David Spencer regularly left the churches after taking little or nothing although the "damage that he committed in order to gain entry dwarfs in monetary value the amount of money that's been stolen" said the presiding Judge. The prosecution added that Spencer had been less motivated by greed rather than by 'some sort of grievance he has with the church'. Spencer pleaded guilty to seven counts of burglary from a number of churches including St John's Church Ealing, Chiswick Methodist Church, Chiswick Baptist Church, St Andrew Bobola Roman Catholic Church Shepherd's Bush, Seventh Day Adventist Church and the hall of St Michael's in Elmwood Road, Chiswick. He was sentenced in to 15 months in prison. January 19, 2010 |
