Hospice supporters included one runner aged eighty October 1, 2026 Meadow House Hospice has paid tribute to the hundreds of runners, donors and supporters who took part in this year’s Ealing Half Marathon and 5K, thanking the community for helping raise more than £37,000 for local hospice care. Staff say they have once again been “overwhelmed” by the kindness and commitment shown by everyone involved — from first‑time runners taking on a new challenge to long‑standing supporters who return each year with a simple, “Sign me up again.” Many participants ran in memory of loved ones or in gratitude for care received, sharing stories that moved and inspired the hospice team throughout the weekend. The event remains one of the highlights of the hospice calendar, bringing together people of all ages with the youngest runner aged 17 and the oldest 80 years old embodied the sense of joy and purpose that makes the Ealing Half Marathon so special. The two oldest runners supporting the charity aged 76 and 80, were taking on their very first Ealing Half Marathon. One of the runners' wives was cared for by Meadow House hospice some years ago. Beyond the fundraising total, Meadow House Hospice emphasises the importance of the awareness generated by the event. Conversations at the race village, personal stories shared online and the visible presence of hospice runners all help deepen understanding of hospice care and the difference it makes to families facing some of life’s most difficult moments. The funds raised will support specialist care, comfort and practical help for patients and their families, ensuring Meadow House can continue to be there when it matters most. The hospice also highlighted the vital role of volunteers, supporters and those who cheer from the sidelines — each one contributing to the atmosphere that makes the Ealing Half Marathon such a cherished community occasion. Next year marks Meadow House Hospice’s 40th anniversary, and the team is already looking ahead with excitement, hoping to build on this year’s momentum and make 2027 their biggest year yet. A spokesperson for the hospice said: “To everyone who ran, donated, volunteered, cheered or helped spread the word — thank you. Your enthusiasm, commitment and support mean the world to us, and we are truly humbled by all that you do.”
