There was heavy traffic this Thursday afternoon (14 September) after a fire engine crashed into a lamppost on the Broadway (A4020) near the police station.

It appears that it was involved in a collision with a car although no further details about the nature of the incident are available at this stage. It is understood that nobody was seriously hurt.

The damage to the lamppost was so severe that a crane was required to hold it up.

Ealing Council advised people to avoid the area where possible while clean up and recovery crews were on site. Delays lasted well into the afternoon.

We have contacted London Fire Brigade for a statement about the collision.
