The company was convicted of five fly posting offences on Friday 30 April at Wimbledon magistrates' court. They also admitted to having already paid a Fixed Penalty Notice last May after Merton Council warned them not to fly post.

Topps Tiles was fined £1,000 for each of the five separate offences, totalling £5,000, after pleading guilty to illegally displaying direction signs on trees, fences, lamp posts and traffic lights in Bushey Road, Raynes Park and Morden Road, Mitcham. It was also ordered to pay £1,436 prosecution costs within 14 days.

The council removed 55 illegally displayed signs.
