A man's suffered head injuries after a fight between football fans on a Piccadilly line train.

The incident took place between 3.40pm and 3.50pm on 17 February, onboard a westbound Piccadilly line train as it travelled between Earls Court and Acton Town station, following a football match between Chelsea and Brentford.

Detective Constable Denis Mahoney, the investigating officer, said: “The victim, a 55-year-old man, was travelling with two friends when an altercation took place with another group of football supporters.

“When the train arrived at Acton Town, the victim was pushed off the train onto the platform, causing him to hit his head on a bench.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and, at this stage, I am appealing for anyone who was onboard the train to come forward if you witnessed this incident.”

A 47-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and affray and has been bailed to return to a London police station at a later date.
