Ealing Council website unavailable for three days after virus alert
For the past three days, Ealing Council's website has been unavailable with the following error message appearing when visitors try to view the front page:
"This website is temporarily unavailable. We are working to fix this problem and restore a normal service as soon as possible.
"Please only telephone the council if your enquiry is urgent.
We contacted the Council to ask them to give a statement on the situation. We also asked them to give residents information about any other services which are unavailable due to computer difficulties after an ActonW3.com discussion Forum poster, Kim Bobsin, reported being unable to pay a Parking ticket over the phone.
An Ealing Council spokesperson said: "Despite have comprehensive security software, the Council’s computer system was threatened by a virus late last week. In order to protect information, the Council’s website and computer system were shut down as a precautionary measure.
"The threat has now been removed and we are working to restore services as quickly as possible. We apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused."
