The new bar restaurant planned for Dickens Yard will be open in time for Christmas.

Darwin and Wallace obtained planning and licensing approvals earlier this year and this will be their seventh location in the capital.

The chain of restaurants targets London ‘villages’ for what they describe as bringing the traditional gastropub into the 21st century.

They tell us that the Ealing location will channel ‘an urban, European loft apartment with contrasting designs, handpicked artwork throughout and a large outside terrace’ and that it will draw inspiration from the local area.

They add, ‘Dark wall finishes and poured concrete floors will contrast with lighter, warmer touches in the furnishings, creating a bold, modern space that feels like home. Outside, terraces will be filled with terracotta pots and delicate trees, making the perfect backdrop for relaxed eating and drinking.’

Mel Marriott, Managing Director, Darwin & Wallace said: “We have long held the desire to be part of the ‘London village’ that Ealing is. Finding this superbly located, stand alone, building within the Dickens Yard development has given us the most amazing blank canvas on which to layer on our own interpretation of what a modern pub can be, unique to its location.”

Shops and restaurants already set up in Dickens Yard include Triyoga, Charlotte’s W5 and Benham & Reeves. Recent commercial lettings in the complex include Tonkotsu, Balans Soho Society, Gail’s Bakery, Gymbox, Blo Bar, Kumon, The Skinny Kitchen, Jigsaw and Content by Terence Conran.

A spokesperson from Darwin and Wallace said, ' 'Work begins on site this week - only one week after practical completion by the landlord - from that point we will begin the process of breathing life in to our new home and all being well we will be able to share our unique home from home space with residents and visitors alike in time for Christmas.'
