Restaurant to take over former Royal Bank of Scotland Premises
The High Street in Ealing looks set to get a new café bar following the submission of a number of planning applications to Ealing Council. The documents provided suggest that the new establishment would be called the Castano Lounge with the applicant hoping work can start this September with completion before Christmas. Bristol based company, Loungers UK Ltd is planning to convert the former premises of the Royal Bank of Scotland near the Ealing Broadway Shopping Centre at 14 High Street.
It is a national chain that, pre-pandemic had 122 ‘Lounges’ nationwide which are described as neighbourhood café/bars combining elements of a restaurant, British pub and coffee shop culture. The company aims for the same characteristics for each of its outlets with an emphasis on informality and comfort. The Lounge brand aims to focus on the local community and staff are encouraged to engage with their area through events, charity and community groups. According to market research carried out by the company, 80% of its customers tend to live nearby. The company did not respond to a request for comment about its plans.
