I often think breakfast time is just that bit too soon to eat, but come mid-morning and I'm more than ready.

So where's the best place to get brunch in Ealing?

We have plenty of options now, but I've heard a lot about what's available at Limeyard and given I'm verging on the veggie side I was on the lookout for something a bit more interesting than just beans on toast.

Limeyard

Well I wasn't disappointed. Limeyard has a great selection to choose from but when I saw the mention of halloumi and kale on the same plate there was no contest.

The Green Yard brunch at Limeyard

'The Green Yard' is a substantial plate full of all things delicious: grilled halloumi, tomatoes, spiced beans, kale, poached eggs, watercress hollandaise, spinach & toast. At £6.95 perhaps this might be seen slightly on the expensive side, well compared to some local cafes it probably is, but I don't know many places that would serve up this lovely combo so reckon it was worth it.

My partner had the 'Full Yard' which consisted of maple cured bacon, sausages, grilled chili tomatoes, spiced beans, poached eggs, hollandaise & toast (£7.95) All was eaten and thoroughly enjoyed.

Both plates were substantial yet didn't make us feel uncomfortably full, and as I'd heard lots of people rave about the pancakes here, I just had to try didn't I? I'm glad I did.

The stack of hot buttermilk pancakes was just delicious, add nutella and strawberries to that and this was pancake heaven. Despite eating rather more than I would usually do at this time of day, I didn't feel uncomfortably full, which I put down to a sparing use of oil and a lightness of touch from the chef.

Limeyard get the thumbs up from me for a great brunch.

Now, where would you suggest?
