The Bearcat Comedy at the Viaduct goes from strength to strength. Now on the first Friday of the month with occasional extra special gigs (Milton Jones did a sell out midweek gig recently) James, the genial MC and boss, attracts some great names.

Last week saw the return of some acts I’d seen there before; but two new that were both amazingly good.

American, David Mills had me, and the entire crowd around me, in fits of laughter from start to end.  With a laid back delivery which was quite camp at times he gave us a Californian’s take on the vagaries of English culture – cheese rolling and the like. Wearing a suit as sharp as his wit he was relaxed (reminded me of a young Dave Allen at times) and well worth seeing.

Similarly Ben Norris had the audience in the palm of his hand.  Much of his set centered on the major shift in his life once he became a father of triplets so “the house is full of strangers “and people stopped using his name and he became “Daddy”. The ‘Daddy’ who didn’t get up in time to make the kids’ packed lunches (according to mummy).  He has triplets “Two are identical, the other has a really tiny willy – just like his dad”. And how expensive having kids is – when you go to a shoe shop and can only afford two pairs so there has to be a rota.

Coming up? He must love it in Hanwell - Bobby Davro is back on May 5th  - book quickly at http://www.bearcatviaduct.co.uk/

It is a very popular night out – especially with their “Meal Deal” in conjunction with the pub downstairs– a 2 course meal and comedy ticket for 20 quid. What’s not to love?
